Work statement: A white flag, a signal of surrender. A call to assemble and take actions in the face of climate change. A call to question our relationship to the environment and our continued lack of stewardship, especially relating to air quality and carbon emissions that effect air pollution. The legal definition of a “peaceful surrender” in relation to a rented residential property is printed on this embroidered white flag proclaiming the act of caring for something that we inhabit, but do not own.
“Peaceful Surrender: The Tenant shall, at the expiration or sooner determination of the Term, forthwith peacefully surrender and yield up unto the Landlord the Premises and its appurtenances, together with all fixtures or improvements which at any time during the Term shall be made therein or thereon, in the state of repair required to be maintained by the Tenant hereunder, without notice from the Landlord.”
