Prospect 4: P.S. Satellites

ART I-10, curated by Brian Guidry and Mary Beyt was funded by a National Endowment for the Arts Grant and features work by 11 artists that work along the I-10 corridor spanning from Florida to California including, Brandon Ballengee, Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola, Wes Kline and others. The show’s theme explores identity, a sense of place, and a glance at our global future.

This video installation used the metaphor of farming and the landscape as a platform to examine nomadic living, sustainable food practices and their relation to human migration. Viewers were encouraged to plant Nasturtium seeds, a variety of edible flowers, kale, and sunflower seeds and plan to return to the site to help transplant plant seedlings to the mobile cart's raised bed garden box during the exhibition. The AcA staff and interns worked with visitors and education groups to collectively care for the living sculpture, creating a performance of care within the institution.
