In Relation To
In Relation To, is a site specific video installation created for InLight Richmond 2014. The primary intent of this work is to create social sculptures through exchange and shared experiences with others in public spaces.
This one night, outdoor, public, light based exhibition transcends the traditional gallery setting and lent itself well to exploration and experimentation through social interactions. Using sand and projected video this project initiated ways for participants to integrate technology and the body while evoking ideas about how humans can stay in relation to nature.
The piece was located in Monroe Park in Richmond, VA and there were no instructions posted at the exhibition site. It's important to note that none of the actions that took place during the night were choreographed or planned. This element of the work asks the viewer to examine relational communication and theories relating to play.
