BIO / CV

Born 1971, Tampa, Florida

Chalet Comellas is an artist and Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Art at Florida State University, where she teaches courses on art and the environment and contemporary art. Comellas' research explores a variety of artistic practices relating to cultural, social and ecological issues and creates new media projects that integrate sculpture, collage, video and sound. In these mediums she works toward creating abstract narratives, romantic gestures and even absurd solutions, to be examined and questioned. She earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Florida State University (2012) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Tampa (2001). Comellas' work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in museums, galleries and fairs, including; P.S.
